Sustainable use of aluminium
David Earle, Council for Aluminium in Building
Venue: BAWA Filton

The substantial amount of energy expended in the built environment
raises challenges which in many cases are best met by the use of
aluminium. This talk considers the sustainable use of aluminium in
buildings, the use of energy (much of it hydroelectric) to produce
aluminium and the exceptional energy efficiency that is attainable by
recycling. Since aluminium is abundant and endlessly recyclable,
supplies are effectively inexhaustible. Moreover, recycling reduces
energy consumption by over 90 % in comparison to production from ore.
The talk will be followed by a discussion and buffet.
Members and non-members are welcome.
